Aviation Forum, Workshops, Expert Groups

A variety of networking activities have been set up to facilitate and enhance the exchange of information between the players in the aviation industry, in research and education, the field of business development, the authorities, trade chambers and associations, to build mutual trust, to pool resources, to spur cooperation, and to coordinate joint action.

With these aims in mind, the Aviation Cluster Hamburg Metropolitan Region,
created the Aviation Forum. Its quarterly meetings serve as a platform and information interchange where all interested parties involved in the field can meet and share their experience. Aviation-related economic and technological issues are put up for discussion, while participants can use the social part of the event for various personal conversations to expand on matters in even greater detail.

Since 2002 has been a large number of workshops and Aviation Forums, covering subject such as:

innovative materials, aircraft interiors design, consolidation of suppliers, supply chain management, financing, international cooperation, innovation management.

In addition, the Senate of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg (the state government) has established discussion groups with aviation sector companies as a channel to address current issues and to arrive at recommendations for action. The Hamburg Business Development Corporation HWF is involved in a joint effort with its partners, such as Süderelbe AG, Wachstumsinitiative Nord and regional business development agencies, to build a regional corporate network. The Aviation Cluster Hamburg Metropolitan Region
cooperates actively with the aviation clusters in other regions of Germany, among them Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Berlin/Brandenburg, Bremen and North Rhine-Westphalia.

There are regular expert group meetings at the working level, focusing on individual areas of action: marketing and PR, qualification initiative, research and development.

In addition, the Aviation Cluster Hamburg Metropolitan Region
organises receptions and informational events on various occasions, e.g. at trade shows, or by hosting "Science Nights" at Hamburg's permanent representation in Berlin.

The Hamburg Business Development Corporation interlocks with other cluster networks in Hamburg and the region, including the "Logistics Initiative", the "Initiative Hamburg@work" and the life sciences initiative "Norgenta".
