01.07.10 - Progress of Hamburg’s cluster of excellence projects presented
In the frame of the Federal cluster of excellence competition, the progress of the excellence projects of the aviation cluster of the Hamburg Metropolitan Area were presented to Kathrin Meyer, Head of New Innovation Support Instruments and Programmes at the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), and members of her ministry and the project holder Jülich on 1 June.

At Lufthansa Technik AG and Airbus Operations GmbH the three flagship projects were explained in detail. At the Technology Centre Finkenwerder (THF), an innovation market place particularly showcased the progress of the ten projects from universities, research facilities, and small and medium-sized companies. “In addition to the information presentations by the project players, especially the close networking of the cluster and its agents were particularly convincing. The cluster has continued its impressive performance and competence and confirmed once again the high involvement and commitment of all parties“, judged Rüdiger Hintze-Schomburg, who manages the cluster of excellence competition at the Hamburg Ministry of Economic and Labour Affairs (BWA). Meanwhile, the cluster has developed a large number of highly innovative ideas and sketches for further co-operation projects, which are now being processed for the second funding phase.
